I was created as a punishment to mankind. Zeus wanted to punish people because Prometheus stole the fire to give to them. I was given gifts from all the gods during my creation. I was given a box from Zeus but I was not supposed to accept any gifts from him. Then Hermes took me to Epimetheus, brother of Prometheus, to be his wife. Prometheus had also told Epimetheus not to accept anything from the Zeus, but he accepted me right away. I opened the box and all the illnesses and hardships that gods had hidden in the box started coming out. I was frightened and tried to close the box as fast as possible, closing Hope inside.

My Myth Retold

ReplyDeleteIt must be hard to realize that you were created as a punishment. I am sorry. Often the king gods like Zeus and Ra overstep their bounds and interfere in the lives of others.

I agree with Nut. It must be an awful feeling to know you were created as a punishment and not as a gift. Being a protector and admirer of nature with all its beauty and goodness, it's seems like a cruel thing to not be created for good. I think powerful gods like Zeus should consider the value of others.
